15th March – Arriving in Dubbo

Today, I left Tamworth for Dubbo!

It was a long drive – five and a half hours, all up – so I stopped around noon for a break.  I’d made a sandwich in the morning, so I ate that and had a drink of water at a little rest stop.  There were a lot of birds around – listen to them:

I managed to get video of some of them.  Check out the willie wagtail:

I find these birds hilarious, because they look so cute from a distance, then when you get up close that white marking on their head makes them look like the grumpiest birds ever.

It was really windy, so that’s why the camera’s shaking so much.  I also spotted some Yellow-rumped Thornbills:

I saw some Double-barred Finches in the wild for the first time!  I managed to get both photo and video:

I went to the toilet, but didn’t linger because it was a haven for redback spiders.  There were some daddy longlegs too, but I didn’t really care about them.

Fortunately, I got out without getting bitten, then it was back on the road!  Three and a half hours later, I pulled into Dubbo, and set up.
