7th March – Tamworth

Today, I packed up and set off for Tamworth.

It was a longer drive than I’m used to – it ended up being nearly five hours.  About two hours in, I was up in the mountains and needed a bathroom break, so I pulled over at the first sign that promised one.

I was the only person there, but there were plenty of birds.  Just listen to them:

I managed to catch some visual footage as well – this is a female superb fairywren, strutting her stuff:

There were also a lot of red-browed finches in the grass:

I had a quick snack there, then hopped back into the car to drive onwards.  I went slowly around the corners, but the drive was much better than the one from Lismore to Byron, even if there was mist and rain in patches.  I arrived in Tamworth, and started setting up.

It takes me a while to get settled, mainly because I use ‘moving day’ as an opportunity to clean the caravan.  Everything’s already packed away from the morning, so why not wipe down the benches, vacuum the seats and sweep the floor?  It does take a while, though, but I was finished in good time.
