Remember how I was talking about my knees and butt hurting yesterday? Well, that’s the reason for these rest days.
The knees were fine after a good night’s sleep, but not so for my butt. When you ride horses, you actually rest a lot of weight on a part of the pelvis that usually doesn’t take weight – because you rarely sit on something that wide with your legs on either side of it – so when it hurts, it’s because it doesn’t have a lot of padding there. Eventually you build up a callous on the bone, and if you don’t keep on riding, you’ll lose it.
Clearly, I lost mine years ago, because it still hurts.
