Today, I set off for Glen Innes.
I’m rather excited about this – I’ve driven through Glen Innes plenty of times, but never stopped and it always looked interesting.
The Gwydir Highway was a steep, winding road up through the mountains, but it was a nice trip. And there were plenty of stopping bays where I could pull over to let people pass, so that was good.
I had help guiding Turtle Shell into position – a retiree called Cec was lookout for me. Then I had a beer with him – I’m making friends already!

One thing about my adventure, it certainly is an ice-breaker. Everyone’s surprised to learn that I’m going around Australia by myself, and that surprise is usually followed by curiosity.
