14th October – Gem and Craft Show

I was lucky enough to spot a flyer for the Gem and Craft Show while I was in Inverell, and was quite happy to realise it started today (finishing on the 22nd October), so I had a chance to visit.

I stopped off at a lookout along the way, and took some photos.  This is closer to Glen Innes than Inverell, about fifteen minutes away along the highway.

It’s beautiful country, isn’t it?  The drive from Glen Innes to Inverell is particularly pretty.

I found this crimson rosella up in the trees:

The show was on the grounds of the pioneer village:

The show itself was like any other craft show, but gems and other rocks took centre stage.

There was some very nice jewellery being sold for very low prices, because the people selling them had found the stones, cut them, and set them by themselves.  There was also a stand that was selling equipment to do that – nothing I was interested in, but a lot of hard-core fossickers were looking at his stuff.
