Still not feeling 100%, so I kept taking it easy.
I got some laundry done – the bedsheets were due for a wash, so at least I can check that off my list. I also washed my hair, just because it was getting a bit tangled and nasty. So tonight I get to have the small pleasure of being perfectly clean and sliding into perfectly clean sheets – it’s the little things.

My freshly-made bed.
I also tackled the travel locks for the awning. I’d put my awning away days ago, but hadn’t actually locked it into place – the travel locks were very stiff and uncooperative. So I busted out some WD-40, and they’re much better now. The left side is still a little stiff, so it may need a second treatment later, but everything’s locked in place ready for departure on Tuesday.
I headed out to Warwick to meet Mum and Dad for dinner. They were bringing me an emergency beacon that Dad had bought for me – here’s a picture!

Yes, it is exactly as small as it looks. There’s a little antennae you can unroll from it.
When you flip open the protective cover and turn it on, this little device alerts emergency services and gives them your GPS coordinates for a quick rescue. It’s basically so Mum and Dad don’t worry about me breaking a leg during one of my solo bushwalks and dying out in the wilderness. It’s a good device to have – makes me feel a bit better about walking up granite cliffs all on my lonesome.
We ate at a place called Rupert’s Bar and Grill, and had a very delicious meal. It was nice to talk to them, but it was over too soon. Since it was Sunday night, they had to get back to home at a reasonable time instead of hanging around to chat. So they headed back to Brisbane, and I went in the opposite direction.
Turtle Shell was dark and cold when I got back, so I turned on the heat and pulled on my slippers. I had to register the beacon online, but it was pretty quick and painless. You can update your registration, and they have a little section where you can give details of your trip like how many people in the party, what you’re doing, your food supplies, etc. Obviously the ideal user updates it with different details each time they go out on a trip, but I’m not sure I’d remember to do that every time, so I just put ‘likely bushwalking’ in the comments box.
I made up a packed lunch to take to Bald Rock National Park tomorrow, to expect some cool pics soon!
Great to see you and feel much more at ease about you walking by yourself!

It was nice to have dinner with you guys – it might be a while before that happens again.
